Kitchens are where interior architecture earns its keep. They demand beauty and durability in equal measure, which is exactly why we love designing them — and why two of ours have been honored with ASID Austin Design Excellence awards.
At City View House, a minimalist brief called for durability without sacrificing drama. We paired the owners' beloved marble in the baths with tough Mont Blanc quartzite in the kitchen, then crowned the island with a tiered geometric chandelier. It earned 1st Place in the Kitchen category in 2018.
The Great Hills Remodel took the opposite journey: a dated 1990s kitchen opened up into a sleek, monochromatic, entertaining-friendly space, grounded by a textural backsplash and warm notes of wood and iron. It received an Award of Merit for Kitchen design.
